Сверху барабан режимов, кнопка питания, спуск затвора и клавиша видеозаписи. Сзади – 3 стандартные кнопки и мультиселектор. 1 V3 лишилась видоискателя и удобной рукояти. Корпус металлический. Масса с аккумулятором больше 300 г. Спереди дополнительный диск прокрутки. Рычажок включения переехал за спуск затвора. Из 3 функциональных кнопок программируются Fn1 и тыльный диск прокрутки при нажатии. Экраны 3-дюймовые, разрешением около миллиона точек, с хорошей детализацией и углами обзора. Есть сенсорный слой, но нет антибликового покрытия. В 1 V3 экран с наклоном. Имеются micro-USB и micro-HDMI, у 1 V3 есть джек для микрофона. Поддерживаются карты micro SD. 1 J4 аккумулятор на 1010 мА*ч, а у 1 V3 на 1110 мА*ч, зарядка внешняя. Их хватает на 300 с небольшим кадров. Сенсор формата CX на 18 мегапикселей и графическая система EXPEED 4A из двух процессоров. Разрешение выросло, убран низкочастотный фильтр, детализацию улучшилась. В RAW при ISO 200 заметно мелкое зерно. В JPEG улучшили шумодав. 171-зонный гибридный датчик автофокуса (105 зон с методом определения фаз) действует быстро и точно. Скорость – до 20 к/с с покадровой фокусировкой и до 60 к/с для серии полноразмерных снимков в RAW. Буферной памяти в 1 J4 хватит на 20 изображений, а в 1 V3 – на 40. Минимальная выдержка затвора 1/16000 с. Сценические программы выбираются автоматически. К цифровым фильтрам, HDR и панорамам добавилась цветовая палитра для быстрого поиска и применения эффектов и тонирования. Режим «Моментальный снимок движения» сохраняет снимок и записывает коротенький замедленный видеоролик со звуком или фоновой музыкой. «Съемка лучшего момента» имеет три подрежима: выбор кадра из серии, выбор кадра из замедленного ролика или автоматический выбор. При автосъемке изображений во время записи видео через указанное время делаются снимки. Видео картинка плавная, с хорошей детализацией и цветами, при разрешении Full HD и 60 кадрах в секунду. Есть ускоренная съемка на 120, 400 или 1200 к/c и режим произвольного ускорения/замедления скорости съемки. Модуль Wi-Fi позволяет использовать мобильное устройство как удаленный видоискатель. Также можно посмотреть и скопировать уже готовые фотографии.
