Domain Driven Design (DDD) is one of the pillars of object oriented software development. You must understand it really well if you want to produce future proof code and designs. In this video, we cover the basic of Tactical and Strategic DDD. A domain is the subject of a software system or application. A model is a simplified and structured abstraction that maps and documents everything of interest in the domain. In the tactical design phase, we use Entities, Value Objects, Associations, Aggregates, Factories and Repositories. How do we design an Aggregate? To be honest, it's not an easy answer, even for experienced practitioners. In this session I am summarizing the current state of affairs regarding Aggregate design in the Domain-Driven Design community. I am Thomas, and I design systems for people and computers for fun and profit! My career has navigated me through various industries like Finance & Insurance, Medical, Automotive and Travel. I have been wearing many differently shaped hats over the last 15 years. From System Administration, Test Automation, Web Development, Software Architecture & Design, Product Design & Organisation Design, I can draw on a bit of experience that currently helps me every day as a Principal Solutions Architect FlixBus. The biggest realization over the last few years is that the most important component of success is not running the latest distributed architecture in the cloud, but to enable people to work smart to manifest their ideas in helpful products. I want to share my experiences and hope that you can take away a bit of knowledge that can help you later. It is impossible to design useful software without understanding the underlying forces driven by market conditions, competitors, business strategy and the actual people using or building the software. Hence, I firmly believe that a wider definition of system design is required to achieve an adaptive and evolvable environment of people, processes and technology that can react to changing conditions in our fast paced digital world.

The mainstream thought on Domain Driven Design is about Entities, Value Objects, Aggregates, Repositories, Services, Factories... all kinds of technical patterns. Whether we are designing a new system or trying to decompose a monolith, the main challenges in a microservices architecture are decomposing the system into services with well defined responsibilities, and establishing how data is exchanged and kept consistent across such services. A proper microservice architecture design defines microservices which are loosely coupled and highly cohesive. What we are trying to do is avoiding a distributed monolith. In this video we discover that a microservice’s domain is equivalent to a bounded context in domain driven design". We will start by discussing the differences between using Entity Framework Core on its own and using it in combination with DDD principles, including the importance of persistence ignorance and enforcing DDD principles. Next, we will cover three steps for mapping an aggregate to its corresponding tables in a relational database using EF Core. We will then use EF Core's Fluent API and configuration files to map a complex aggregate to its database tables. Finally, we will create an SQL Server in a docker container, use the EF Core CLI tool to manage migrations and apply our migrations, and use VSCode to visually explore the database. This domain centric approach is a toolbox made up of a set of practices, patterns and principles that allows you to deal with sometimes very complex issues. DDD continues to gain popularity, but it is not easy to make sense of things when you want to get started: books are not always easy to understand and many blog posts only talk about advanced technical stuff. Based on this observation, community initiatives have recently emerged aimed at making DDD more accessible. Among these resources is the DDD Starter Modeling Process which is the ideal guide to get started and which advocates a continuous, gradual and iterative approach. My presentation will focus on this guide and will reveal to you all the tools that can be used during its different phases but will also provide feedback on its use with customers wishing to be helped in the implementation of practices related to DDD. 20 years in software development and not even a wrinkle (or almost not). O dorosłych dzieciach dorastających w dysfunkcyjnych rodzinach mówimy w przypadku osób, których rodzice dopuścili się względem swoich podopiecznych szeregu zaniedbań - zarówno psychicznych jak i fizycznych. Trudne przeżycia - wśród których można wymienić dorastanie w poczuciu zagrożenia, brak wsparcia czy przejmowanie obowiązków dorosłych - przekładają się na liczne problemy w dorosłym życiu. Czym charakteryzuje się rodzina dysfunkcyjna? Jak objawia się DDD i kogo dotyczy? W jaki sposób funkcjonują osoby z DDD oraz gdzie mogą szukać pomocy? Na te i wiele innych pytań odpowie psycholożka i psychoterapeutka Joanna Flis. Rozmowę poprowadzi Zofia Szynal. Сложность изучения и применения усугублялась туманностью объяснений выгод как для коллег-разработчиков, так и для архитекторов, менеджеров, продактов. Подарившим DDD вторую жизнь ударом дефибрилятора стали микросервисы. Микросервисы — это то, как мы проводим границы и оказалось, что в DDD для этого содержаться одни из лучших инструментов. Профессиональное сообщество подхватило идеи DDD на хайпе микросервисов и началось бурное развитие. Появились и новые техники, облегчающие вход в DDD и открывающие новые возможности. Умело комбинируя Event Storming и DDD можно из одной и той же модели получить бэклог, API, тестовые сценарии, наброски UI/UX, структуру команд, структуру компонентов и тех же микросервисов. Именно об этом пойдет речь в докладе. Выступление будет полезно для того, чтобы: 1. Выжать из DDD еще больше, если вы уже его применяете 2. Научиться «продавать» DDD через выгоды, понятные тем, кому «продаете» 3. Расширить кругозор
