Did you know that you can read all vinyl records by standart needle and piece of paper? So, in today's video I want to show you how to make simplest turntable or vinyl record player. You need needle, paper, cardboard, electric motor, battery, dc motor speed controller, plywood and one rubber band. Follow instructions from this video and you will build simplest record player! Just a little video displaying the functions on my homemade 78 record player. The wood was built from wood at Lowe's, then stained. Acoustic reproduction is a simple angled board deep in the machine near the exit sound hole underneath the end of the tone arm. Cost about 100 dollars to build, including the mechanism which was bought damaged off eBay. The machine was removed from a cheaply-made 1920s Phonola Portable record player and repaired with a new spring (how difficult it was to insert!).

We wanted a simple, modern look for our record player and I think we nailed it! 😉 What do you guys think?! Here’s what we used: Two 16”x4’ Edge Glued Pine Boards $30 4 10” steel legs from Amazon $20 Cut the first board into 24” and 13 3/4” and the second board into 17” - 13” and 13” sections. Assemble with wood glue and 1 1/2” 18 gauge brad nails. The 24” board goes at the bottom, use the two 13” board with the 17” board to form a box at one end and attach the 13 3/4” board at the other.
