В этом видео будет рассмотрен стандартный случай, когда на компьютере с UEFI, например, на ноутбуке, установлена операционная система Windows 10, в которой есть два раздела, т.е. диск C и D, а у Вас появилось желание попробовать Linux, в частности дистрибутив Linux Mint, и установить его на компьютер второй операционной системой. Современные компьютеры используют UEFI в качестве аналога привычного многим BIOS. Также обычно используется Secure Boot настройка для защиты от загрузки не авторизованного программного обеспечения. После установки операционной системы Linux Mint 18 необходимо добавить ее в качестве доверенного источника загрузки для Secure Boot. Для этого входим в систему UEFI (удерживая клавишу F2 при загрузке, либо воспользовавшись специальной опцией из меню отладки Windows), перейти в меню "Security" и выбрать пункт "Select an UEFI file as trusted for executing". Далее выбираем HDD2 - EFI - ubuntu - grubx64.efi. После этого задаем имя для загрузчика, которое будет отображаться в меню загрузки системы UEFI, например "linuxMint18". Далее сохраняем изменения ("Exit Saving Changes" или F10) и при загрузке компьютера удерживаем F12, чтобы убедиться, что добавленный загрузчик стал доступен в меню загрузки. Чтобы каждый раз, когда нужно загрузить linuxMint18 не нужно было вызывать меню загрузки через удерживание F12 при включении компьютера, снова зайдем в UEFI для настроек. (Чтобы зайти в UEFI, при включении компьютера удерживаем клавишу F2). В настройках UEFI переходим в меню "Boot" и переходим в секцию "Boot priority order". Там необходимо переместить загрузчик LinuxMint18 на первое место. Делаем это клавишей F6. Сохраняем изменения (Exit Saving Changes либо F10). После этого при включении компьютера будет запускаться загрузчик grub, в котором можно выбрать, какую систему запустить. Если со стороны пользователя не предпринято действий в течение 10 секунд, то grub автоматически загрузить систему, которая находится на первом месте в списке. Кстати grub можно редактировать, изменяя очередность загрузки или время ожидания действий пользователя.

Если при установки Linux Mint (Ubuntu) на UEFI происходит ошибка, связанная с отсутствиет в сборке загрузчика grub-efi, то проблему можно решить установив нужные пакеты вручную. После получения ошибки не выходим из системы. 1.НЕ закрываем установщик. 2.Открываем терминал и пишем: sudo chroot /target apt update apt install grub-efi-amd64-signed 3.Дожидаемся завершения установки загрузчика. 4.Выходим из chroot exit 5.Перегружаем систему. UPDATE 2: Since the July 2020 ISO the wifi-menu command is not anymore available. To connect to a wireless network use iwctl as per the Arch Wiki. UPDATE: Since the release of the kernel 5.7 creating a Swapfile with fallocate will not work at reboot. Create one with the command "dd if=/dev/zero of=/swapfile bs=1M count=512 status=progress" (for a 512M swapfile for example) and everything will work fine again. С другой стороны, процесс установки Ubuntu на компьютер с Windows 10 очень простой и, если Вам кажется, что UEFI усложняет процесс установки Ubuntu на компьютер второй системой, то на самом деле, на мой взгляд, с UEFI процесс установки Ubuntu даже легче, так как в этом случае не нужно думать о загрузочном разделе, ведь он уже есть (Windows 10 его создает) и нам необходимо просто установить загрузчик в этот раздел. Также сразу хотелось бы сказать, что для того чтобы установить Ubuntu рядом с Windows 10 на компьютере с UEFI, не нужно выполнять никаких особых предварительных действий с существующими параметрами компьютера, в частности нет необходимости отключать UEFI Secure Boot или включать режим Legacy, Ubuntu на текущей момент умеет работать с UEFI. Something that I want to remark is that the network interface your DHCP server is listening to should really have a statically assigned IP address, otherwise your DHCP server might fail to start. In this video I go through a Clean Install on Mint 20.1 (instructions are identical for the minor 20.2 update) on an OptiPlex 7040 using a UEFI BIOS and Secure Boot. I address the UEFI BIOS settings required for the install such as the use of the AHCI SATA Operation and configuration of a UEFI Boot with Secure Boot. In 2020 a number of UEFI BIOS updates for 6th Generation Intel Systems and later were patched to address a Security Exploit. Mint 20.1 has been updated to pass this updated 2020 Secure Boot and all older versions of Mint will be rejected by Secure Boot. Any computer manufactured in 2012 or later will have a UEFI BIOS. The instructions in this video do not apply to a non-UEFI (or Legacy BIOS). For a complete install including codecs and third party drivers, we need to set up a Machine Owner Key (MOK) to allow it to pass Secure Boot. The Cinnamon Desktop Environment used in Mint 20.1 is tailored for keyboard and mouse use for example in a traditional desktop. It has shortcomings when it comes to using a 2 in 1 convertible laptop device. I move over to a XPS 13 9365 2 in 1 convertible laptop to check out the touchscreen user interface. The system has the inbuilt rotation sensor and the driver for this is inbuilt into the Linux Kernel but doesn't have any configurability option to allow auto-rotation of the screen and touchscreen input in response to the sensor. Fortunately there is a KDE Desktop Environment auto-rotation script available on GitHub which also works for the Cinnamon Desktop Environment: 🤍 The default browser is FireFox which like FireFox on Ubuntu is by default setup to use a non-touch input setting. FireFox on Fedora is setup to use the touchscreen input setting. We can change to this in Linux Mint by opening the terminal and typing in the following command: echo export MOZ_USE_XINPUT2=1 | sudo tee /etc/profile.d/use-xinput2.sh This will require a log in and log out to make the user changes. The touchscreen keyboard is also very limited compared to offerings for example in the GNOME3 Desktop Environment found in Ubuntu and Fedora (Fedora has the best Linux Touchscreen Keyboard). It is also quite useless if positioned to the bottom of the screen and set to open in response to entering a touch field. This makes it incompatible with the Start Menu... I found scrolling in the start menu didn't work very well. While there was a setting to widen the scroll bars, it didn't help with the touchscreen functionality. Le BIOS ou L'UEFI se trouver sur votre carte mère et c'est grâce à lui que vous allez déterminer des paramètres comme le disque de démarrage et beaucoup d'autre paramètres important de votre PC. L'UEFI est le remplaçant du BIOS car ce dernier à été crée il y a fort longtemps et il montrait des limitations. L'évolution de l'informatique est très rapide et les technologies change, vous ne pourrez pas par exemple installer des disque au format GPT sur un BIOS, vous aurez besoin de l'UEFI pour cela. Ubuntu 23.04 and Ubuntu 22.04 LTS is now out and these massive improvements over Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. I have remade this video using newer Dell hardware such as an XPS 13 9305 and XPS 13 9365: 🤍 🤍 Ubuntu is the Linux distribution with most support from hardware vendors. Dell in particular test a large proportion of their hardware with Linux Ubuntu. In this video I go through a Clean Install on Ubuntu 20.04 on an OptiPlex 7040 using a UEFI BIOS and Secure Boot. For a complete install including codecs and third party drivers, we need to set up a Machine Owner Key (MOK) to allow it to pass Secure Boot. I then move over to a 2 in 1 Latitude 7350. This system also had native complete driver support and the touchscreen and auto-rotation worked out of the box. I change some of the settings to optimise the system for tablet use. Make sure your UEFI BIOS is up to date before attempting the installation. For instructions on updating the UEFI BIOS using the UEFI BIOS Boot Menu and a USB Flash Drive see: 🤍 Note Dell have responded to GRUB2 Bootloader CVE-2020-10713 by issuing newer UEFI BIOS Updates. These UEFI BIOS Updates address the Security exploit but will block older installers which used the GRUB2 Bootloader such as Ubuntu 20.04. Make sure you are installing from Ubuntu 2004.1 (patch 1) installation media or later which has an updated GRUB2 Bootloader. Also make sure your SATA Operation is AHCI as Ubuntu does not support a RAID SATA Operation. In this video I go through a Clean Install on Mint 21 on a Dell XPS 13 9305 including optional drivers and multimedia codecs for full functionality. The Dell XPS 9305 is an 11th Generation Intel System which has a UEFI BIOS and no Legacy Boot Options. Linux Mint 21 is based upon Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and uses an up to date Linux kernel of version 5.15. Before the install I address the UEFI BIOS settings required for the install in particular: Enabling Secure Boot which requires configuring a Machine Owner Key (MOK). Using the AHCI SATA Operation which is required as there is no Intel Rapid Storage Technology/Intel VMD Linux Kernel Driver. Changing the Pre-boot Behaviour FastBoot Setting from Minimal to Through. This last setting is only required sometimes when the wireless card doesn't initialise properly. Post install I have a look at updating Linux Mint and customising the Cinnamon Desktop Environment. I also have a brief look at some commonly used open source software: FireFox Chromium Chrome Libre Office OnlyOffice Desktop Editors KolourPaint Krita GIMP KDENLive The Cinnamon Desktop Environment used in Mint 21 is tailored for keyboard and mouse use for example in a traditional desktop or non-touch laptop. It has shortcomings when it comes to using a 2 in 1 convertible touchscreen device as it lacks device autorotation (screen and associated touch input rotation). The preinstalled browser Firefox also uses a non-touch input option, touch gestures on the touchscreen highlight text instead of scrolling by default. The onscreen touchscreen keyboard is basic and behind the GNOME3 Desktop Environment in this area. Touchscreen notes... There a couple of hacks that can be used to address two of the most annoying touchscreen issues... To change the touch input option for FireFox so it works with touchscreen. Open up a terminal and type in the following commands: echo export MOZ_USE_XINPUT2=1 | sudo tee /etc/profile.d/use-xinput2.sh sudo reboot To enable autorotation download and extract the kde-auto-rotate-master and double click the install file and select Run in Terminal: 🤍 #linux #mint #dell
