How to Diagnose & Repair a Weed Trimmer that Won't Start or Run. This weed eater trimmer came in and the owner wasn't sure what was wrong with it but said it would not start or run. In this video I will walk you through the process I took to diagnose and fix the problem it had. In the end it had a fuel problem because the fuel lines were rotten and leaking and fuel was not getting to the carburetor. And always wear eye goggles to protect your eyes. ⚠️ How Can I Identify a Yard Trimmer Problem? If a yard trimmer doesn’t cut, refill the monofilament line spool or replace the blades (see below). Inspect the cutting head and replace any damaged parts. If yard trimmer line doesn’t advance or breaks during use, rewind loose line on the spool, clean a dirty cutting head, reshape a bent head outlet guide with pliers and smooth the edges with sandpaper. As needed, replace a badly damaged head (see steps 1 through 3 of Install monofilament line below). If an electric yard trimmer doesn’t operate, make sure power is on at the electrical receptacle, and test the electrical cord, switch, and motor. If an electric yard trimmer lacks power or overheats, make sure you are using an outdoor extension with the proper capacity for the trimmer (check your owner’s manual). As needed, test the motor. If a gas yard trimmer doesn’t work, first check the owner’s manual to make sure all controls are set properly. Check the small engine that powers the unit. If a gas yard trimmer stalls or runs intermittently, check the fuel lines for blockage and check the air filter or exhaust port for blockage. Check the small engine that powers the unit. GMC whipper snipper repairs. for what seems a life time this unit would run ok till it got hot then it would stop working.cough and carry on and you could pull on the starter cord till the cows come home and your arms resembled something like the incredible hulk but it still wouldnt start. however, if you put it away for a day in the shed and came back to it, it would work again for about 20 minutes till it started playing up and stop.so it was a real challenge for me to get my entire yard done with it before it died. i think i now hold the world record for how fast i can get my yard done....lol anyhow, today i had finally had enough of ripping my arms from their sockets and looking like the incredible hulk no longer appealed to me. so i had a chat to my neighbour who knows more about mechanical stuff then i do and we put our heads together and went a hunting.first thing we discovered was the spark plug gap was too small, so we set it to about the width of a hacksaw blade to start with. then we went a hunting and it looked like it was starving for fuel. long and short of it, i emptied the fuel tank into a container and along with the fuel also out came the fuel pipes as well. they broke off.might explain why the engine wasnt getting fuel correctly and seemed to be deing when it got hot. anyhow, i usually carry some RC nitro fuel line with me in my rc spare parts kit and grabbed it and whacked some in to my whipper snipper and presto! its all going again and it works first pull of the cord now as well.its never done this in its entire life! i think my wife will be dissapointed i now no longer have to look like the hulk to start the unit up, however im happy now i no longer have to go and spend 2 hours trying to get the thing to start and then set a world record pace to get my yard tidied up before it dies for 24 hours....lol hope this helps someone! quick update 2/01/2012 got it out of shed this morning and back to same old fault again. takes 99999999 pulls on cord to start and im looking like incredible hulk again. replacement spark plug needed. the on in it was a "torch L8RTC" closest i could find was these 3 bosh WSR6F - NGK BPMR6A - Champion RCJ8Y put in new plug after adjusting to the width of a hacksaw blade, and it goes first pop! Recorded on January 1, 2012 using a Flip Video camcorder.

* MOST BRANDS * My one year old Murray, quit running and refused to start. This video walks you through the diagnosis if your problem is an empty, or partially filled primer bulb that will not pick up fuel. $Zero cost repair. As always it is best to test ignition by using starting fluid ( ether ) to see if it will run a few seconds on that. This is a fuel issue repair. This video shows that removing the carb or rebuilding is not needed in some cases. The only tool used was a flat head screw driver. Thumbs Up!! 🤍5:40 I say " I used Gumout throttle cleaner with the little red hose squirted it into the brass tube, it came out the little holes then I sprayed off the little screen nice and clean, and the rest of the surface. Now a simple reassembly, put this block back down on the then put the two screws back on with the primer bulb" (paraphrased)

I wasn’t able to find any info online on repairing/replacing the pull cord on these newer front side mounted weedwackers. The pull cord is mounted between the motor and the pole. So I decided to post a video that may help make it a little easier for someone. Sorry for the poor video quality. This is a wc210 25cc craftsman trimmer. But as far as I can tell, there are many makes and models with the same set up. Bolens bl110; bl160, Troy bilt tb25; tb22;, yard machines y765; y25t, craftsman ws205; ht2200; ws4200; ws2200; and probably many more models. Step by step process to fix the fuel line on a Homelite trimmer from Home Depot (2002 model). Easy repair, basic tools and a trimmer tune up kit ($10) required. Even know the kit is from Ryobi it is compatible with most Homelite trimmers. Info can be found on the Home Depot's website, search for "trimmer tune up kit".
I found this old electric trimmer in a shed I cleaned out awhile back and thought it would be handy at home to trim up the garden edges! But bugger - it doesn't work!! #StrimmerThrottleLever #BrushCutter #StrimmerRepair In this video, I show how I repaired and reassembled the throttle lever trigger / switch for this BC415 petrol strimmer / brush cutter. It had been snapped at the point which holds it inside the handle assembly but not snapped all the way through luckily so I figured out a way to hold the broken parts together with a simple cable tie (or zip tie). After fixing the switch it was on to a thorough check from fuel delivery to ignition to find out why it wouldn't run. It turned out the only issues were the fuel jet was blocked and the fuel tank had a leaky rubber grommet so once those were sorted, it ran beautifully and my garden got a good trim up. This repair is done on john deere LG497680 recoil assembly that comes branded as briggs and stratton recoil assembly.
This video will show you how to repair a Homelite HLT25CS Trimmer pull starter that won't retract or how to replace the pull starter cord. The most important part to fix the issue was unfortunately not shown on the video but I did pulled it apart again and drilled a new hole on the pulley same diameter of the spring wire size and bent the spring stud/pin less than 90 degrees opposite to the direction of the pulley rotation to have a good grip/hook on the pulley. In this video Joe Stoe describes how to repair a broken or non working Ryobi 18v battery operated string trimmer or weed wacker. It's a very simple project that is easily done by most people. Don't throw your trimmer away because it doesn't work, chances are it's a really simple fix! I show you how. All you need are a few simple hand tools, a wire connector and some heat shrink tubing. You might have some of these things in your workshop or garage.
