Terrible showcase. For psvr we’ve already known that re4 vr mode has been in development for ages. We already know about sierra squad and synapse. Arizona sunshine 2 was a nice surprise, but will most likely be two hours of gameplay for £30. It’s about time Sony put their money where their mouth is. They said there would be hybrid games for VR. So far we only have gt7 and re8, both great games but apart from re4 coming up there is nothing else that is AAA. Also no gameplay of firewall which I thought was ludicrous. No other big IP’s coming up. Also away from VR Spider-Man 2 was the only true standout. No TLOU factions, and the other games announced look really poor. I’m someone that has been into VR for many years. Sony have a fantastic headset and they need to put their money where their mouth is fast, or psvr 2 will fail miserably. I picked up red matter 2 the other day, by far the best looking and performing game I’ve ever experienced in VR (Even better than Half Life Alyx) If a small development team can make a VR game of this quality then Sony can easily conquer the VR market. They just have to promised what they said to fans.
Looks like i have to buy a Pico4 oder Quest and a new GPU to finally play HL Alyx on PC.
Meanwhile i doubt it will come to PS, sadly.
Disappointed with the no-show case
👍🏻
I just want blood and truth 2
No HALF LIFE ALYXS... I am starting to think that we will never see this game on PSVR2.
Any new VR game has a lot to live up to in terms of graphics after Red Matter 2
Hi GT
Well I’ve got resident evil four on PS5 ready to go, i’m glad to see Arizona sunshine making a comeback this looks good! Was looking for more half like Alex games but can’t complain what we have
Really disappointed with that lineup overall tbh.
All those games looked fun, but I expected more to be announced.
Just gotta say it.. Abject garbage event. 3 first games they showed were horror games, perfect for horror fans who are a tiny but extremely loud minority of gamers. Most people don't want to be scared sh*tless, and the OVERWHELMING majority of horror games are of the same level of quality as the OVERWHELMING majority of horror movies... Pure crap. Think about it like this: If there's one group of fans who are OK with mediocrity, it's the horror fans. That's why so many newbie devs make horror games, they know the audience isn't picky. They know the audience buys everything.
Do we need more horror games in VR? Sure, but we need more of EVERYTHING, and all we're getting is horror...
Have we forgotten that ndreams releases super shallow games with hardly any breadth or depth? Synapse is probably going to be like all their other games.. Unfinished, without substance, and extremely basic. What have they shown so far? Levels without textures, and the same telekinesis and pistol gameplay they've shown in all other videos... I mean seriously, the world in synapse HAS NO TEXTURES.... It makes the Vail maps look like artistic masterpieces. It's so obviously a game made for Quest. Low poly and no textures, bad lighting and simple gameplay... yaaay... wahoo...
The feeling I was left with after this event was that Sony literally has nothing going at the moment that's more than a year out.. And what they have for the near future is indie crap... And that's pretty much the consensus over on the flat side as well. The Playstation subreddit is like "wtf was that??"
People need to close their eyes and remember E3... This was the equivalent of their E3 event... Remember when E3 was a thing and Sony came out on stage for their event and laid out a fricken 2 year roadmap of stuff we can look forward to? Remember being excited about games coming out 18 months from now? What's gonna keep me excited for the next year of PSVR2?
This event was like "hey, we got some indie crap that's coming out over the next few months. Kthxbye!"
What am I supposed to be excited about exactly? Zero first party games for flat and VR? Ok.. Cool... Great..
Sometimes I think the platforms out there listened to the viewers when they said "omg give us launch dates we don't need to see trailers and CG teasers for games that are coming out years from now!" And what we got from this shift was Sony showing off upcoming games that are right around the corner, and there aren't many of them.. So it's just an indie showcase.. Zero first party games... Zero indications of what's coming down the pipe..
I used to be able to say stuff like "man I'm looking forward to [game X] but it's so far away!!" and that's very much an improvement over "hey, any new games coming out for this platform? No? Ok.. hmm.. Surely they must have held back some games for an upcoming PSVR2 event then, right? Yeah?"
The stuff they showed last night would all have been on a sizzle reel back when E3 was a thing. The entire scoop of crap they showed off would have been like a 3 minute video between big announcements if this was E3... After a proper E3 showcase we'd not be left with a feeling that PSVR2 and the PS5 has zero plans for 2024.. We'd have a pretty decent understanding of the next year and a half of the platform.
3 months from now, 80% of what they showed will be out.... At which point we're back to stumbling across releases on their blog again. Either that or just games appearing on the store without fanfare of any kind.
throws a plastic cup across the room POO! Absolute pooooooooop!
I had a feeling that Freddie's was on VR like you said the wobble head part that made me think it was but now confirmed, there's a few decent VR2 games to look forward to but the showcase overall wasn't brilliant.
You almost said my tracksuit joke about the Avatar, but you played it safe 😂...
Top stream last night GT keep up the good work fella 😎
Hm. I was honestly on the cusp whether I should ever get a PSVR2, depending on whether they release cool games that I really, really need to play. But looking at this cynically, there really isn't much that would pull me over. Arizona 2 will come to Steam as well, I've played RE4, admittedly far from pretty, but the story and gameplay aren't new, Sierra Squad doesn't really bother me, ... The only thing that actually looks new and interesting is Synapse. Which brings the amount of titles I would love to try and can't get elsewhere up to two, with Call of the Mountain. That's kind of not enough.
There was so much hype that Sony would save the VR industry by bringing new, amazing and AAA games. And I am somewhat underwhelmed so far. Most reviews and announcements are just old games with a shiny new graphics upgrade for PSVR2, which really doesn't shout "spend 1k" to me. The PSVR2 is a great headset, and it's probably good for the VR industry in the long run. But I always had the impression that it is overhyped, and that feeling has hardened by now. I get the same chill down my spine for all the "-new- PSVR2 game" and hype videos popping up in my feed as I get for those pesky "Quest v59 is amazeballs!!!" videos that used to be everywhere. I hope I am wrong, but I am getting major overhype vibes by now.
Why won't they make more vr car games or Add on VR modes?
It's sooo weird. It seems as though many UK VR youtubers love PSVR2, but many US VR youtubers almost snub it.
In any case, PSVR2 has a solid 2023 lined up.
I'm betting there will be another showcase late this year.
And I'm a bit miffed that Talos Principle 2 didn't mention VR! TP1 is one of my all time favourite games, and it has a VR mode on PC. I would love to play the original in VR on PSVR2, and I'm hoping that part 2 can be done so as well.
Let's talk honestly...
8% more psvr 2 sold in 1 month than psvr 1! Is that a sensation?
Vr community 2016: 10.000 people and sell 500,000 in a month
vr community 2023: about 40.000.000 people (of which 21-22 million quest/oculus users) and they sell 8% more!
If you don't see the problem here and after the Showcase someone can still hype the vr line I doubt human intelligence! Another Zombie game? Beat saber? Resi 4? How many more skins do they want to skin?
We needed titles that ...
Death Stranding Vr
Cyberpunk Vr
Enhanced Skyrim Vr and etc.
Here it is 2023 and the most massive vr game is still the pc version of Skyrim vr with 450 gigabytes of mode...
If the meta doesn't announce something big on June 1st I will bury the vr for life after six years, almost 20.000 hours and 14 vr headsets
great stream! I was kinda disappointed with the games announced, but still the psvr2 has only been out for 3 months. im sure that we’ll eventually have a great library.
crossfire looks really cool though
Anyone who held off buying psvr 2 until they watched the showcase will definitely not be buying one
Arizona sunshine 2 is a nice surprise.
