Right off the bat selling your parsnip seeds is a popular choice, but honestly it's a bad move. 15 parsnips get you farming level 1 on day 5. Farming 1 unlocks fertalizer, which gets you more money per crop for everything you farm for the rest of the game. The 4 day growth cycle of parsnips gets your farming exp up really fast. If you're willing to dedicate your first dozen days of the game to just farming massive parsnip crops you can unlock quality sprinklers before you get the strawberries. The issue is the 3rd harvest comes up on the 13th, so you can't sell them in time to get the strawberry seeds and if your crop is too big you won't have much time to fish or mine for other income. But it's still worth it. Parsnips low numbers make a lot of players think they are a bad crop, but for boosting your farming level, unlocking fertalizer and sprinklers early, I think they're actually one of the best crops

Check the calendar every day near Pierre's store or buy one from Robin at the carpenter store . On someone's birthday if you give them something they love you will increase friendship levels 3 hearts ! If you give them something they like its one heart , so make sure not to miss someone's birthday !

Focusing on farming and fishing to get a big strawberry harvest while ignoring pretty much any gold costs except for the upgraded bag and fiberglass rod, I was able to get desert unlocked and 200+ starfruit seeds by summer 1. Since starfruit seeds are so expensive that also means the less plants you have to deal with if youre behind on sprinklers. Note: I also got Caroline to 3 hearts so I could make as many tea trees as possible.

I did a couple mines runs too and managed to get 3 or 4 ancient seeds. I like to plant those asap with speed grow and continue turning any ancient fruit I gather into seeds and continue planting them until fall. If you can get at least 1 fruit from each plant before winter it is worth planting since the fruits have a chance to turn into multiple seeds.
Day two I try to get to level 2 fishing before 5 at the beach so I can get a fiberglass rod and ad much bait as possible. Then I head to the mountain lake. You can possibly catch a few largemouth bass before 7 and carp are quite easy to get perfect catch with. Save chub for energy until you have mushroom cave or salmon berries. Day 3 I go fish in the mountain lake until 7. Then head to the river to try and catch some catfish. You should be level 4 or 5 by 7 which will make catfish a bit easier and not such a waste of time.
I think the first several days are the most important to set you up right.

Just bought stardew valley and thought id give it a go. got really overwhelmed as had no idea what i was meant to be doing - so i followed your guide.... got through the first day ok. second day my guy passed out whilst doing the cutting trees bit. really need to work out where to get food from. Now on day 3.... The fishing.... ive just spent 2 days trying to catch a damn fish... is this for real? o.O like... how on earth are you supposed to do it? ive tried mouse, controller, im not even entirely sure i know what the hell im supposed to be doing. the game was good and relaxing, until this :( like seriously how do you catch a fish? lol - a tutorial really wouldnt have gone amiss in this game... also i think it would help if you could set the days to be longer as the clock goes REALLY bloody fast. those are my first thoughts lol

one key tip I have is when you get the silo coop pair always empty out the silo because the silo itself only holds 240 hay where a chest can hold 26973 hay.

You actually don't need the three hundred wood to repair the beach bridge until the first Saturday. This is because forageables reset on Sunday. In most areas though, there's a limit of six forageables on screen at a time, any more that try to spawn will be blocked. However, the beach does not have this limit and will therefore accumulate items all week. I find it pretty easy to collect enough wood by then from doing tree clearing at night after all my other activities for the day are done :)

Check the traveling merchant every Friday and Sunday if you can get a coffee bean you're set start planning those in the summer but you're not going to make coffee you're going to replant the beans

I love your videos and find them super useful however fishing in Stardew valley is near impossible for me. I'm never able to get far enough in the game to get to lvl 5 fishing so I try to use your guides however I some fish a whole day be can't get a single fish even with the training I rod I can olny get around 1. Anywho what I'm trying to ask if you can please make a guide to complete the community center with no (or minimal) fishing. Please and thank you

i followed this guide and it was really helpful! by the end of the season i had level five in all skills, with level six in mining, and reached the bottom of the mines, and bought the coop and barn (plus two chickens)

part of this was due to luck; i found several diamonds and had two very good luck days, one of which let me get from level 100 to level 120 in a single day (i reaaally powered through though; i took a ladder as soon as it appeared. i really wanted to reach the bottom XD)

some tips though:
- save as much gold as you can to buy strawberry seeds at the egg festival. i bought nineteen and they made me around 5000 gold split between two harvests - because of when you buy them, you can only get two harvests in before they die off, so after the second harvest feel free to neglect them or destroy them to conserve energy

- if you're chopping wood and are running out of trees on your farm, head down to the woods by the sewer and harvest spring onions while you're there! they sell for next to nothing but can be a handy source of energy. they respawn every day too!

- spend some gold on cauliflower! of the spring crops, the only two that beat it out in terms of farming xp are rhubarb and ancient fruit, with strawberry coming right after it (this was how i got my farming level to five).

- when the salmon berry bushes can be harvested, try to set aside one whole day to gather from as many bushes as possible. the woods by marnie's house are by far the most abundant for this. i got over 200 berries in the three day span for harvesting, and chowed down on them the whole way down to the bottom of the mines

- craft spring seeds and plant them. not only does it save you money, but the crops you harvest (leek, daffodil, dandelion, horseradish) count for foraging xp, which was how i got foraging to level five - this is also why i bought a bunch of cauliflower seeds; to balance out the lack of farming xp from the forage crops

- don't forget to sell extra solar/void essence! i keep a few because i'm a bit of a hoarder, but they can make you pretty decent coin if you encounter a lot of enemies in the lower levels of the mines (which i did)

- if you have a rainy day and are a pretty good fisher, definitely do river fishing to get catfish. they sell for more than other spring fish, and grant more fishing xp

- i didn't do this, but i know you can sell excess weapons/boots at the adventurer's guild, which could definitely help out!

best of luck to you all, and, if these tips aren't fun to you - by all means disregard them! i love reading the wiki so a lot of my decisions were influenced by that - that's the kind of player i am, and that's one of the things that makes stardew valley enjoyable to me. a method that doesn't make the most money or grant the most xp but is very enjoyable to its player is just as important as any other

Another reason to always kill all enemies in the mines first: if you kill all the enemies first each rock you break after that has an additional chance of finding a ladder.
