As we all know, gearbox is the new owner of the risk of rain ip as of last year, including risk of rain 1, risk of rain 2, all the risk of rain 2 dlcs, you get the gist, and as such they are now in total control of all new risk of rain content being produced. While many have had their opinions about what gearbox may do to the ip, we haven't gotten any concrete proof to go off of... until now, and the new risk of rain content that gearbox has announced has got me a bit uncertain of the future of risk of rain (dramatic lightning sound effect). Guide for the great lean fiend. Risk of Rain 2's survivor of the void DLC came with two survivors, void fiend is my fav. Void fiend is a mixture between rex and artificer. He has Rex's survivability and (almost) the entirety of Artificer's kit, all in one. Void Fiend's basic form is better than his corrupted form. In which I disseminate the new Risk of Rain 2 DLC: Survivors of the Void and ask a few key questions: such as that age-old one: is it worth it? Survivors of the Void adds 2 new characters, the Railgunner and the Void Fiend. They are both really cool. Buy game. 🖒Like if you liked the video, that's why it's called a like🖒 Survivors of the Void is Risk of Rain 2’s first content dlc, the first of potentially multiple. It adds 2 new characters, a completely new final boss and in-game route associated with that, a new item rarity, new stages, 9 new enemies and generally speaking a slice-tonne of new toys to dissect unwilling specimens with. Risk of Rain has always enticed me. Playing the first game, I was quickly drawn in by it’s brilliant soundtrack, simple and effective visuals, all the funky interactions between the items, that never-ending nail bitingly tense gameplay loop, and of course the underlying themes of how humans fuck up everything they touch, and how everyone is individually responsible for the slow but gradual decline of our planet – you know, normal stuff for a pixel game about funny spacemen wearing fish bowls on their heads. Risk of Rain 2 was the same sort of deal – retaining all the things the original game did excellently but with one major twist – it utilised that third dimension we all know and love, alongside a seafood platter’s worth of new content, completely revolutionising the original sidescroller. Survivors of the Void is a step in a different direction, going against every other update for this game’s theme of being completely free. So does Survivors of the Void fit into the rest of RoR’s update line? Is it’s financial model disruptive to the casual player? And most of all, is it worth it?
